[Opinions] Courtney (male)
My daughter was gushing about her latest crush and how kind he is (unless he's playing Uno, apparently it's gotten so rowdy that the teacher banned the game) and I asked what his name was. It's Courtney. He's black. It's not in common for names like Courtney and Whitney to continue to be used as masculine names in black culture. Courtney B. Vance is a good example. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtney_B._Vance)Thoughts? I dislike the name overall - I've known too many annoying ones. But I do like it better as a male bame.

It’s ok. I prefer it on a girl.

I've seen Lindsey, Courtney and Whitney on men (and Ashley). I think it's fine, but I wouldn't use it myself.

It used to be that in the UK there was a gender spelling difference for Lindsey, as with Francis/Frances, where Lindsay was considered masculine and Lindsey feminine, but that never developed in the USA. Actually the distinction was even stronger in the UK for Leslie vs. Lesley, where the former was considered masculine and the latter feminine. Again, that never was the case in the USA, where the spelling Leslie was used for girls from the time the name became popular for them. Ashley stayed predominantly masculine in the UK and Australia for decades after it had become almost exclusively feminine in the USA.

I think it's nice on a boy!

The first Courtney I knew was a guy, didn't meet another til I was an adult, and that was a female. Don't like it or loath it.

I only like it for a girl

I like the name generally. For girls, it's too popular. It would be nice to see it on a boy. I definitely prefer it on a boy or girl more than Whitney.

I hate the name Whitney. It's incredibly insubstantial and whiny.
