[Opinions] Guinnevere
What do you think of Guinnevere? And yes, the two N's are compulsory, for one very simple reason. That's how it's spelled in the song: http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=147848 :D It's one of my favourites--gorgeous and extremely haunting. If I ever used it, it'd almost definitely be as a middle name; it's a bit unwieldy for everyday use, and the only nn that I like with it is Winnie. I'd die a little inside if she wanted to be Gwen. :(Array

Guinnevere is so quirky, romantic, fun, energetic. Love it. Just think how much fun it would be reading a dd to sleep at night to the "Tales of the Round Table."Are you looking for fn suggestions? I've already deemed that your first born dd shall be Elva / Elvy. Elvy Guinnevere? I can't recall the other names you were mulling over. Hmm. Hazel Guinnevere would be so cool in an art nouveau, Oscar Wilde, Aubrey Beardsley kind of way.I can't recall any others.

My firstborn is to be Elva? I could handle that. ;) I dunno how it'll pan out, as I won't have anyborns for several years yet, but I'd be okay with an Elva, lol. (The only thing is this: in my family, it's semi-traditional--aka, it's what my parents did--that the firstborn gets the father's middle name and the secondborn the mother's, whatever the sex of the baby. So my firstborn dd could quite possibly end up being Elva Rae or Elva _____, depending on what my nonexistant-DH and I end up doing.)Elva Guinnevere is really sweet, and if you have any other suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. :)Array (clearly needs to have about a dozen kids, each with two middle names, to use all of them she loves)

I find pretty much all forms of the name to be heavy with baggage. She wasn't my favorite character by far, in some versions she's downright annoying. A lot of these names strongly associated with mythology or fairy tales just sound like they are trying too hard for this "my daughter is a perfect little princess" thing which makes me roll my eyes. If anything, I prefer Gwenhwyfar, which if I'm pronouncing correctly, at least has a softer and more appealing sound that the *literally severe* sound in Guinnevere. I think the baggage of Guinevere is what made Jennifer so appealing initially. Jennifer managed to pull off some of the romantic princess/white knight feeling without making you ask automatically where Lancelot was. Too bad people are so fatigued on Jennifer anymore that they don't hear anything at all and automatically respond with a YUCK. :( (I hate having a name that no one likes. Look out Madisons and Graces of today.)

I like Guinevere, but- because of the song, I think the extra 'N' is appropriate. As for combos, how about something like Julianne Guinnevere, Maria Guinnevere or Sarah Guinnevere? Do any of those appeal to you?
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Sara Guinnevere (I'd never spell it with an H, hehe) is lovely, but it has the same problem as Ruby Guinnevere: she'd share a name with her aunt. Julianne Guinnevere feels just a tad too long for me, but perhaps Julanne Guinnevere would work. :) And Maria Guinnevere is nice, but I'm more in the mood for Marie right now--so perhaps Marie Guinnevere. Thanks for your ideas, Andrew! :DArray (drew pentagrams, like yours, milady, like yours...)

Elsa Guinnevere sounds nice to me. I also like Ailsa Guinnevere.

Adore the name. Lovely first name. Your connection to the song certainly makes the double nn appropriate. In terms of a middle name, I like Lily Guinnevere or Anne Guinnevere. The "A. Guinnevere" gives it a literary feel.

I like Anne Guinnevere. or what about Aimee Guinnevere? The first name would have to be a short one, because the mn is so long! :)
or you could have:
April Guinnevere
Ruby Guinnevere
Maery Guinnevere (sounds very classic)Can't think of any others...

Aimee Guinnevere is a no-go.Firstly, because my name is Amy Rae. :) Secondly, because I have a serious hate-on for all spellings of my name other than A-M-Y, hehe.Ruby Guinnevere would be very, very nice, but she would share a name with her aunt. All the same, I think it's a darling combo, and I'll file it away for future reference. :) Thanks for your help.Array

A. Guinnevere certainly does look right to me. :D And Anne Guinnevere has a nice balance of double N's, hehe.Hmm...Amaryllis Guinnevere would be far too much, I suppose. Alice Guinnevere, perhaps? It never occurred to me before, but I don't like a lot of names that begin with A. And those I do like all feel far too long and fancy with Guinnevere. I can handle one fancy name in a combo, but not two, hehe. Clearly, I must give this some more thought. :)Thank you for your help!Array

Genevieve is nice, too, but I'm afraid I can't get behind Geneviere; it looks like it should be pronunced jeen-vee-air to me, lol.Array

I'm glad you like it as a mn because I completely agree that "it's a bit unwieldy for everyday use." Personally, no matter how you spell it I don't care for it, it's too flowery, too fanciful. However, mns have a freedom all their own, so sure, why not Guinnevere as a mn?
