In 1992, the WMO decided to retire the names Candace, Imani, Joaquin, Leonard, Maura, Nixon, Olive, Patrick, Robyn, Steven, Tasha, Vaughn, Wanda, Beta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Lambda, Mu, Rho, Upsilon, Chi, and Psi. Due to Greek rules, they are gonna be used later on. They were replaced with Cheryl, Ivana, Julian, Leroy, Miranda, Nazario, Ora, Preston, Ruby, Saul, Thea, Vernon, and Wynne for the 1997 season, respectively.
