Have you read 'Tristram Shandy' by Laurence Sterne? The running joke through the whole book is that the narrator's father wanted his son to have a name that was perfect in every way, but instead he is accidentally named Tristram, which his father perceived as the worst name possible. Since the dad's choice had been Trismegistus, I think his son got off lightly, but it makes for a funny, if very long, novel.
