[Opinions] Judy
What are your thoughts on Judy?I personally think it seems less dated than Jodie at this point and sounds happier/friendlier somehow.Do you find it dated? Could it come back?Do you like it on its own? Or as a nickname? Would you pick Judith or is there anything else it could be short for?Does it work on its own? Any associations?

I rather love the name Judy, especially as a nickname for Judith; it sounds so spunky and vibrant!
It’s my mom’s name. It’s a total boomer name. I could see it coming back like 20 or 30 years from now.
Judy can work in its own. My first thought is Judy Garland.I can definitely see it coming back just in the way Evie and Lily and Elsie and Edie have a following. It might end up, in the UK at least where diminutives as first names are very popular, be more likely to come back than Judith.

Judy Maxine is RAD
Judy is great. I don't like it as much as Trudy, but it's snappy and fun. I think it could come back. It's retro now. I've never known a Judy, even an elderly one! These kinds of names are making a comeback. I heard of two baby Ruths being born to cool young parents recently, so if Ruth is coming back I wouldn't be surprised if Judy follows. A friend of mine also tried to talk her husband into Betty if their second had been a girl. These kinds of beatnik sort of names are fringe popular and admired! I prefer Judith in full with Judy for a nickname, because I am greedy, and I find Judith satisfyingly dramatic and artsy. I think it does work on its own though!
I dislike Jodie, which I've only seen IRL as a nn for Josephine, not Judith.Judy seems like an eternal five-year-old: Judith has energy and dignity.
I have never been a fan of this name. It's childish and bland. It's too dated as well, and I doubt it makes a comeback soon.I prefer Judith, which I would use in real life.
Judy is way better than Jodie, which sounds quite ugly to me. I love Judy as a nickname only. It could probably work for anything containing the "ju" sound...
I love it and f i imagine it trending within the next few years, especially in the UK.
I think Judy is very cuteIn a poodle skirt, saddle shoes and ponytail kind of way.
It's a bit more dated to me than Jodi, which I also like and which has a softball, roller blades and ponytail kind of vibe. So they've at least got ponytails in common.
I don't like the name Judith at all, the th at the end is very unattractive to me and the name feels cold and stiff.
For the right kind of girl, Judy could possibly be a nn for Julia or related names, but it's a stretch. I think it's fine on its own.
I like Judy as a nickname for Judith and Jodi as a name on its own.
I think that Judy is more dated than Jodie, probably because I heard Judy first. I don't like it, but it makes sense as a NN and it stands well enough on its own, although I prefer Judith. I've seen Judilynn and Judine. I think of the robot from K.C Undercover. I disliked her character until she got development. That did not help my opinion of the name, but I don't hate it.I like Jude so much more. It sounds cooler? It's good for both genders whether its short for Judith, Judas, Judiah or whatever.
