[Opinions] Candace?
WDYTO the name Candace? This was my absolute favorite name for a girl about 3 years ago, but within the last several months, my taste has changed, and I haven't really thought about it until recently.
That said, what are your opinions on this? Any MN suggestions?
Thanks in advance! ^_^
Edited to add... I don't like any spelling variants: Kandace, Candice, Kandice, etc.
Edited again... How would you pronounce it? KAN-das (the one I ususally hear) or kan-DAY-see?

Candace (and its other kri8ymh spellings) has never been a favourite with me, mainly because the only nickname I can think of is Candy and I find that a little trashy. Sorry! :P

I don't like it at all. It looks like candy to me, and doesn't sound very nice.
I say KAN-das. I've never heard kan-DAY-see.
It also reminds me of Cadence, which I abhor.

Horribe name, just horrible.
Thank you anyway!
Thank you for your comments! :-)
If it wasn't for my sister, Candis, I don't think I'd care much for the name. Seems dated, like to the 60s or 70s. But my sister and I are very close and I plan on using Candis--crazy spelling and all, lol--as a mn for my first daughter. Btw, her name is kre8tivlee spelled because she's named after our aunt Candis (and we're pretty sure our dad's parents just didn't know the "correct" ways of spelling it :-/). The name, and spelling even, really suits her. Family and old friends all call her Candi, which she really dislikes, but it just stuck. :b
Her full name is Candis Eloise, Eloise also being a family name. Candace Eloise / Heloise is nice, imo.

Like Isla, I have sentimental reasons for preferring this spelling (my best friend Candis Marie). For myself, however, I have used it in stories and prefer Candace in such cases, if only to set Candis on a pedestal above Candace - "there can be only one..." *LOL* My favorite Candace creation of my own is a character called Candace RaeAnne Sharpe (she's an African American professional vocalist).
My RL Candis gets called Candi sometimes, occasionally even by me - it slips out naturally, how can you help yourself? - but truthfully doesn't like it too much.

Thank you, both! :-)
I pronounce it KAN-das, but I don't really like it. I think it's doomed to the terribly annoying NN Candy/Candi, and I don't think Candace is a pretty sound to begin with. Sorry!

Don't be sorry! Just because I like, doesn't mean you have to. Thank you for your comments! :-)
lol I know, bur I still feel bad! Usually I try to say something nice about a name, even if I don't like it. When my post is nothing but negative, I feel compelled to apologize. Allow me to now apologize for over apologizing! :)

Thank you! :-) Kandice is nmsaa, though.
Yeah, most people feel that way. :P
I have a good association with it, a wonderful friend of mine named Candace. I just remembered you wanted middle names -- here goes.
Candace Amelia
Candace Maria
Candace Hope
--Those are the first 3 to come to mind, tell me if you want more.
btw, something funny about my friend is that every girl in the family has a C name, although most of them are not blood-related to each other. This is what I mean:
Great-great-grandmom: Carma
Her daughter: Carla
Her daughter-in-law: Camille (not me lol)
Her other daughter-in-law: Charity
Her other daughter-in-law: Celia
Her other daughter-in-law: Coral
Her other daughter-in-law: Candace
Candace's daughter: Carlie
Cool huh? okay, anyway, I'll stop rambling now.
