[Opinions] Ryan and Brian - which and why?

Replies

Both of these names are handsome...but I'd choose Brian, because I know more guys named Ryan. I would prefer the spelling of Bryan, however!
Despise Brian, so Ryan. Not great, but better.
I think Bryan is dated and not ready for a comeback. Ryan, in my opinion, has become a classic.
Why do you say that about Ryan?
Ryan sounds a lot more cool and handsome to me. Brian sounds smarmy and whiny, and I can't help but associate it with the dog from Family Guy.
Yes, Ryan is cool and Brian is your next door neighbour that mows the lawn at 6am.
I think I like Brian more, but I think it's because I have met more Brians who I liked.
I think I probably would sooner name a son Ryan, though, just because the Br initial is not my style somehow.
I think of them as almost the same name, like stages of the same trend, with Brians about ten years older than Ryans. Dylan, Aidan, Liam, and Owen seem like they're the younger cousins.

I'm not a fan of either one but if I had to choose, I would pick Brian. It just seems to have more substance and history to it. I remember reading about Brian Boru, a 10th-century High King of Ireland. To me, Ryan seems like a more faddish name (eg. trendy).
Brian, definitely. Ryan is so whiny and bratty.
Brian is funnier. More personality.
Ryan, Brian sounds nerdy and unattractive.
Brian seems classic to me: steadily in use, never so popular that its bubble would burst, fine for all ages. Ryan had its moment, but I've never liked it - it always seems to have lost its B in the laundry.
As much as I like Ryan, I will always see it as Bryan without a B.
Ryan because it has a more tender sound.
Ryan > Brian
idk why
I like both, but Brian is more dated
I agree completely.
