[Opinions] pronunciation?
I'm in the process of creating names for a story and I created a few that I can't quite decide how to pronounce. Also, what do you think of these names?
Jalie- pronounce it JAH-lee, JAY-lee, jah-LIE, or other?
Elia- EL-ee-a, eh-LEE-a, EL-yah, or other?
Racha and Zacha (twins)- RAH-sha and ZAH-sha, RACK-ah and ZACK-ah, RAY-cha and ZAY-cha, RAH-ka and ZAH-ka, or other?
thanks for your help!
"I am my evil twin."

It's really not how you want to pronounce it, it's how people WILL pronounce it. I know I myself tend to pronounce things my own way even if I'm told how it's pronounced (that is...if it's not a legit name).
Jalie - I pronounce it JAY-lee. I actually really like this! It's cute.
Elia - EL-ee-ya. It's okay.
Racha and Zacha - RAY-cha, ZAE-cha (the "ae" being pronounced like the "a" in cat). Racha reminds me of Rachel (which I like) and Zacha...kinda reminds me of Zachary. I don't really like it.

2- ELL-ee-a
3- RAH-sha & ZAH-sha
A note: on first look, I would pronounced them RAH-sha and ZAY-sha.

A few things.
This would be better on the board called The Writing Room.
Also, if they're in stories, how are you going to regulate the prn? You just write them, and the reader decides how to prn it, short of putting the phonetics in the story, which is usually awkward.
What are the convulsions of a city in comparison with the insurrections of the soul?
Man is a depth still greater than the people.

Sometimes the pronuncation of names in fantasy books is included in the back. I've seen it is several books, but the only one I can remember now is Eragon by Christopher Paolini.

Dr. Peter Flynn: I understand you're a neurosurgeon.
Bert Fischer: No, I'm a barber, but a lot of people make that mistake.

Sorry, I don't really read fantasy, so I didn't know. I've never seen it, and I was just speculating.
