[Opinions] Do you think John and Mary need rest?
In my case, I think it's a bit like that.

I think they are currently resting compared to how common they used to be. John and Jonathan aren't uncommon, and I think where they are at is fine. I wouldn't mind seeing Mary and Marie a tad more.

John is more popular than Mary. Both of these names are used a lot among religious people. I think John could use a rest.

They’re already getting one? There aren’t many people under 50 or with these names

Yes, and I think they’re starting to get it.

No. I like classic names such as Mary, John, Elizabeth, James, and Katherine. They’re much better than Kayleigh, Madison, Jayden, and worse Jaxxon.

Same here

I would love to hear John and Mary more, rather than Braxton and Kinsley

Not anymore. I guess John is still common, but Mary isn't overused anymore. I don't think John is OVERused anymore either, it's just a normal amount of popular.

No, not at all, certainly would be nice to use these classic names

Where I live, they've had a good rest and would enjoy being used again.

John and Mary are fine names. They're classic, traditional and timeless. They may not be the most exciting names but they're dependable and solid choices.

I honestly don't know. John is a little boring I guess, but Mary can still surprise me sometimes. A few years back someone I worked with named their baby Mary Isabel and I thought it was incredibly beautiful, not boring at all. Mary certainly would be very unusual on a class list today, so maybe it's had enough rest and has come around again.

No I don’t. People now seem so intent on giving their children original and creative names in the hope they will stand out to the point now that John and Mary are more likely to stand out than Jayden Riley and Luna Nova.

Someone named John would completely fade into the background for me.

A John over 30 would fade in the background, but a John under 15 would standout where I live.

This is perfect

This exactly.

Yes, even though they're not as common as they once were, they've been very common for centuries, and I think a little rest is needed.

Thank you.
