I couldn't agree more with Kerilyntaryn21! Luna can only shorten to Luny or Lunie, or of course Loony, and in His Dark Materials Philip Pullman named his character Lyra because of its similarity to Liar: she was skilled at fibbing her way out of trouble.

I don't think Luna needs to be shortened but if I had to my automatic choice would be Lulu, Lu, or maybe Lune.
I agree too. Lyra Silvertongue because she ispeaks ‘lying’ so fluently. To me this name is so specifically linked to this character, like Bilbo in LOTR for example, that can’t picture it on a real person.
