Clyde Cash was the original leader of The Miscreants, which was styled after The Patriots, the shadowy cabal from the Metal Gear series who are revealed to be behind a conspiracy spanning decades, including all the main incidents the protagonists go through. They claimed to be responsible for several unfortunate events in Chris's past, which Chris seemingly believed.
