[Opinions] Re: Hayley
Hayley reads as dated to me at this point for a new child. Yes, it's still in the top 1000 in the US (where I'm at) but it, to me, so speaks to a specific era, one that has passed. It was striking to me over the course of my 20 years on BtN that my understanding of this name as shifted. The first spelling I believe I encountered was Hailey, so that always read to me as the most logical. (The first I can remember actually meeting and knowing was a Haleigh, but that's a different ballgame.) I hadn't encountered Hayley until I came to BtN, actually. In my daily life at this point I think I encounter Haley the most, but I think that's a byproduct of my age more than anything.Personally I'm ambivalent whether it's Hailey, Haley, or Hayley. They're all fine. Haylee isn't bad, but looks a little too much like Kaylee for my taste. I've encountered Hailie and Hailee, though neither are favorites but aren't necessarily bad. Others seem unnecessarily ostentatous - Haleigh, Hayleigh, etc.
