[Opinions] Beverly
What do you think of the name Beverly? Could it work for a modern child? What middle names would you use? Thx

I admire it because it's harsh and ugly and tied to beavers. If Everly and Ainsley are used today, why not Beverly?

This is one of those names that were way ahead of their time when they were popular. Beverly ought to fit right in with Everly, Marley, Harper, et al. but it doesn't because it fits in more with Brenda, Diane, Paula and Joanne. Shirley is in right about the same position.
I don't think Beverly is an unatractive name, but it is very middle-aged-when-I-was-a-kid.

It's a bit dated and unappealing. Beverly sounds fusty musty. I think it needs an edgier middle name to keep it modern.

Beverley was last in the top 1000 in the uk 25 years ago though I associate it more with my parents generation (1950s). As a result of this I wouldn’t expect it to make a major comeback here for another 20 years or so. I run a brownie unit and names that have come through in the last few years include Martha, Florence, Olive, Rose, Tabitha, Ava, Eva, Agnes, Norah, Isobel, Eleanor and Julia so equally I wouldn’t be surprised to meet a young Beverly or Beverley.
It's not a very attractive sound, and it reminds me of beavers...But it's basically Everly with a B, so it could make a comeback.
I find Beverly and Kimberly very strange. Here in South Africa we use the British spelling: Beverley and Kimberley (which is the name of a once-great diamond-mining town, now very run-down).
Anyway, Beverly was never so popular here that I could link it to a particular year or period. My personal associations with it are deeply unpleasant, but that's not the name's fault. Bev is OK as a nn, I suppose. Perhaps Beverly Sophia or Beverly Charlotte would make it more contemporary.

Beverly is adorable! And the nickname Bev is just awesome. Names ending in the “lee” sound are really popular so I don’t see why Beverly wouldn’t “work” for a kid today, she is a bit more genial and vintage than the rest but thats why she’s so lovable. She fits in and stands out all at once.
