[Opinions] Anastasiya with y
Question for English speakers Does spelling Anastasiya with a y (instead of Anastasia) make you pronounce it differently? How do you say both spellings? Asking because it's my name and I spell it Anastasiya to prevent people saying a-nuh-stey-zhuh.

I definitely would be inclined to ask the proper pronunciation, because it does signify something different is happening than simply Anastasia. I'm hopelessly tied to the 1997 film of that title, and in it the name is pronounced akin to what you said, a-nuh-stey-zhuh.
I wouldn't pronounce it differently. It's a pretty choice!
I pronounce them rufly the same
Anastasia - a-nu-stu-see-u
Anastasiya - u-nu-stu-syee-yu

I pronoince Anastasiya as anna-star-sha and Anastasia anna-stay-sha
If I saw that spelling, I think I'd ask. It could be a genuine version, as in your case, or it could be someone trying to pretty it up or make it more unique! In which case the sound probably wouldn't matter to them.
Yeah, I read Anastasia and Anastasiya differently. Anastasia, I would say as ah-na-stay-zhuh, while Anastasiya I'd say as ah-na-stas-see-yah.
Yes, same
