[Opinions] Valentine
Happy Valentine's Day :)I always liked Valentine for a girl? What about you? Do you like it? Boy or girl?

I used to love Valentijn, the Dutch version, but then I had the misfortune of one of the worst people I've ever worked with being called Jan-Valentijn, thus ruining the name forever :') On its own merit, it's a great name. Before my awful colleague, I liked it for a boy. Balendin is the same name in Basque iirc, and I still love that one.

I've always liked it as well, for both genders, but I prefer it on a boy - it's handsome and soft. I also like Valentino, and Valentina has recently grown on me because of an Italian friend of mine who bears the name.

Valentine is one of few names that I enjoy equally on anyone--men or women. It's not really a "kid's name," though--maybe with the nickname Val, but that's it. Might even lead to teasing, honestly. I'd more likely use it for a character.
As someone who was born in February 14th and has Valentine has a middle name, I quite like it and I don't find it kitschy at all. ;) ;) ;) I dunno, for me it's a unique and cute reminder of my special day. My parents have said it was solely because I was born that day, otherwise they would have chosen another middle name. I'm a French speaker, so in French ''Valentine'' is feminine to me. The ending sounds pretty similar to Justine. I'd chose Valentin for a boy.
I adore Valentine for a boy. It’s one of my favorites for a future son. I do also like it for a girl but pronounced “vah-lehn-teen”.
It's got the very reasonable nickname of Val to fall back on, so it works for anyone!Valentine is cute, very kitschy, and I do like the cheese level. Valentino is also amazing for that.I like Valentine for a girl, and Valentino for a boy.
I think it would work on a confident bearer as it would draw a lot of comments. I prefer Valerie for a girl. I know a little girl born on Feb 14th. Her name is Isabella Antonia Valentine, which I liked.
That’s a beautiful combo!
I prefer Valentino or Valentina, but it’s still nice.
My dad was named Valentino, and he named his first child (my half-brother) Valentine. Unfortunately, Val has proven to be a scoundrel who attempted to overthrow our dad’s will because it excludes him, so the name’s been tarnished.
I prefer it for a boy and spelled Valentin. Valentina is pretty for a girl. My friend had a cat with a heart shaped mark on her. She named her Valentine.

I think it's an attractive last name, but as a fn it's just too cutesy and on the nose. I do like Valentina. Very glamorous.
I don't like Valentine. Valentin or Valentyn are better, but I prefer feminine versions: Valentina / Valentyna. I also like Alevtina / Alevtyna, considered variants of Valentina / Valentyna. I think Valentine is boy name, but it is not horrible on girl.
I like it for a boy. It's seems masculine to me despite the spelling. I prefer Valentin.
It was the assumed/stage name of one of my ancestors, Valentine Vousden. He was quite a character so that’s the impression it gives me.
I don't like either name and not a fan of Valentine's day either, yep patron saint of greed
I really love Valentine for a boy. It's soft, sweet, and boyish to me, which is very much my style. I also enjoy the meaning. That being said, I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day, and of course that's the primary association for most. It could still make a nice middle though.
Val as a nn for Valerie is OK; not wonderful, but not bad either. Valentine on either gender would surely lead to a lifetime of people asking about their birth date. And I've never enjoyed Valentine's Day: even worse than Christmas, which does have a deep meaning for Christians, St Valentine should actually be the patron saint of greedy shopkeepers.
I think it's cute for a girl. I like it for a boy too (with the English pronunciation), but I think I prefer Valentin and Valentino.
