Ironically I have a 2nd cousin whose name is April Ruby and she was born in April.April - is an OK name but not a fan of month names, nor seasons for that matter.
Jennie - feels very unattractive
Selena - Love the meaning. Has an elegant feel, although i find Serena more desirable.
Ruby - Not sure about this one, kind of 50/50 on it. I love gemstones and think they're beautiful but not sure if they should be used as names. Saying that I had a friend in high school whose name was Crystal.1. Selena
2. Ruby
3. April
4. Jennie
1. Ruby is simple and beautiful - the gemstone comes to mind.
2. Selena is also simple and beautiful, reminding me of Selena Gomez (who I've idolized for years).
3. April makes me think of spring; I'm fond of the growth and beauty that comes around that time of year.
4. I don't care for the sound of Jennie. It looks cuter than Jenny, but I wouldn't use it as a full name. I don't like Jennifer, either.
Ruby is one of my absolute favorite names, but you can't go wrong with April or Selena either; both are lovely. Jennie I wouldn't use a given name, but it's a nice nickname for Jennifer.
Personally, I really love the name Jennie; it's so classy, and it sounds cute yet mature. For my second pick, I'd choose Ruby, as it's another classic name that fits many different girls!
Jennie and Selena
I dislike month and jewel names, and vastly prefer Serena to Selena. Which leaves me with Jennie. I like it as a nn for Jennifer, but prefer it with a -y ending. My good friend's sister Jenny probably influences me there. Month names: it's a big planet with two hemispheres. My son was born in September, which made him an autumn baby since we were in England at the time. Back in South Africa, he became a spring baby. May is sort-of OK, since it's also a verb and a flower. April throws me as a name: I always expect to hear 'apron' instead. I dislike the whiney sound of June. Other month 'names' are simply silly.Thinking about June, perhaps that -u- sound also puts me off Ruby as well. But I really don't enjoy Pearl, Opal, Amber ... adding Selena to the mix, I think it's 'thing' names that I'm not keen on. Selena is better than Luna, but not good enough.
I like Selena and Ruby. Not a fan of Jennie or April. I knew an April and people called her Ap.. like Ape. That's just unfortunate.
I think they all have some good qualities.1 Ruby - sweet, spunky and sassy all rolled into one.2 April - I like it's soft and gentle sound. An underused month name.3 Selena - I prefer the Selina and Celina spellings but I think the name is pretty and feminine.4 Jennie - I prefer the Jenny spelling. I actually like Jennie better than the full name Jennifer. I knew too many Jennifers growing up that I find the name boring. I think Jennie, is a sweet and friendly option.
Ruby is my favourite. I like the sound. It's uncomplicated and unpretentious. Selena is my second choice, only because I don't really love April or Jennie. I like the meaning, but the sound not to much. I prefer the Spanish pronunciation of the English one.Jennie is third, I like the sound, but that's about it. It's a bit bland.April is last because I don't like the sound andI don't think April is the best month name. The second syllable just just rolls of the tongue quite awkwardly.
