Holly is a name I like a lot in theory but find underwhelming in real life. On paper it's so sweet and pert and retro. It's shiny and cute, without being fluffy at all. It's like Natalie or Leslie or Dana, it has a built-in sense of responsibility. Holly is like the cute class president.
Maya feels much more modern than Holly, it doesn't really "go" with it. Maya is sultry, languid, and vaguely tropical and exotic. Holly is just the babysitter next door, I'd feel kinda bad for her if she had a sister named Maya. Holly got the short end of the stick.
Holly and Mia would work, they have a kind of tidy mod squad thing happening. Holly and May would work too, they are kitschy retro together. Like you can just tell one was born in winter and the other in spring!
