On this site, I wonder why are Japanese names containing the sound "ai" pronounced "Ah-ee" and not "IE". For example: The pronunciation spelling key of Aiko is "Ah-ee-ko" instead of "IE-ko" ("eye co"). You don't pronounce Kyle as "Kah-ill", Riley as "Rah-ee-lee", Tyler as "Tah-ee-lə(r)", and so on. Please share your thoughts!

You're comparing two different languages with different pronunciation rules.

Because they are pronounced differently. It's ah-ee-ko. Three syllables. Not 2 (ie-ko). Like Mikhail is myi-khah-EEL, but Mykhaylo / Mykhailo is mi-khie-lo. My country (Ukraine, Украина/Ukraina) in Russian, is pronounced like oo-krah-EE-nah, not oo-KRIE-nah. Does this make sense?
