[Opinions] Alice/Alison/Alys/Alix
I've always wanted to like the name Alice. Alice Roosevelt, Alice Hoffman, Alice Munro, Alice Walker ( i'm aware that some of these are problematic, especially Munro.) Every Alice I've met has been amazing, smart, and wonderful. But the sound bugs me, as does the spelling. I've always loved Alys and Alix for their medieval feel, but both would be seen as kreativ. And then there's Alison, another lovely medieval name, but is it too Gen X?

Alix is one I used to think odd, but a fictional character made me get used to it. Alice is a classic, can't go wrong with it, and Alison is quite lovely too (used that one for a Gen X character, speaking of which).
Alys isn't bad, but I sort of prefer Alyss: "Alys" feels like something's missing!
Allison is still hanging out near the #100 spot! I wonder if Alison and Allison might get more popular because it's Taylor Swift's middle name. Alison is pretty and kind of "20th century timeless" I think, like Natalie and Evelyn. I love Alix; I don't see it as kreativ, but I'm not a typical person so I can't say how others would see it. Alys is nice, I've never really looked at that one.
I worked with an Alys for a while; she assured me that it was the Welsh spelling. Which this site doesn't support: it gives Alis. I far prefer the original version - Alice, as in Wonderland! But I also love Alison, which seems timeless to me. However, I dislike the lnfn Allison!
Alice is one of those names I THOUGHT I liked. But the more it was said, the less appealing it got. I think I was more attracted to the novelty of the nontypical end sound, as most feminine names end in an A. Alice starts off strong, but putters out too delicately by the end. It's a front-loaded name not supported by the backend, in my mind, so it feels incomplete somehow.
I want to like it a lot more than I do.Alison definitely has an era attached to it, it feels right at home with the Xennials for sure.
I also hate Alice; glad to see I have some company here since everyone seems to love it! I just find the sound to be incredibly unpleasant.I like Alix! I feel like Allison with two Ls would feel more modern, but either spelling would still fit in well with the trends.
I hate Alice! It seems naive/snobby maybe? Alys is much better; I think because Alyssa seems friendlier.I also hate Alison but like Allie (and various spellings).Alix is ok; I think it just looks like feminized Alex.
I can see what you mean with Alice. The Alices I've known have been anything but snobby and naive. They're all powerful women with the name that it doesn't sound powerful. Alyssa is definitely friendlier. I like Allie as well. It's more approachable and sweeter
