I can't see the attraction. It's a patronymic surname. If it's a family name, fine. But calling a girl Emerson is weird to me.

I dislike it with some intensity, though I think I've encountered it too much not to be sort of numbed into acceptance. Never seen it on a boy, though.

For a girl, I prefer Emryn. Emersyn is my favorite spelling, but if you really don't like it, Emerson works fine too! Agree to disagree :)

I like it for any gender, and because I would use it to honor RWE, I would keep the spelling as is.

I don't like Emerson for a girl. Like another commenter mentioned, it even has the word " son" in it. Emersyn doesn't make it any better.

I remember when a friend of mine was having her babies she and her husband desperately wanted a daughter, and they had Emerson and Kennedy picked out as names for a girl. This was in like 2009 so the picks were pretty unique at the time. So to me, Emerson seems feminine first, but I can also see it on a boy.

In 2009, I was very excited with the idea of Emerson. But now I'm not really interested. Because my Emerson phase was so long ago, it feels oddly dated to me. Which is a weird feeling! It's kind of charming in that way; I appreciate its sporty, breezy Y2K energy even if I'm tired of it. Quinn has this vibe to me as well.

I don't really like Emersyn.

It has the word "son" in it. I don't like Allison as a girls' name for the same reason. I like Alice as a name; I don't like the spelling "Emersyn".

A lot of last names work as given names and Emerson is certainly one of them. As first/middle name I like it only for a boy. I think it's awful on a girl, and Emersyn is atrocious.

The fashion for lnfns hasn't taken root in my country; not yet, anyway. So to me Emerson can quite simply be a surname - and therefore, I suppose, by definition unisex!
