[Opinions] Merlee?
This is a name from super paper mario. But could it work on a girl in real life?

Replies

No.Merle is unisex and hideous on both. Meryl would be considered the same if it weren't for Meryl Streep (whose given name, Mary Louise, is so much prettier). Merlee sounds like an unpleasant nickname forced on a child based on a mispronunciation when they were five. Also, naming someone after a character on Super Paper Mario (what is that?) feels weird. Though I'm not someone who plays video games so I don't speak from authority.
I think it would work as a real name, likely as a nickname for Marlene or Merle.
Not a fan
Maybe as a nickname!
Merle variants have overlapped with multiple popular names (Merlin / Merline / Marlene, Merlie and Pearlie), so yes. In modern usage, I think Merlee would seem connected to Marlee.

Yes. I like it. It has been used in real life, a little bit, along with Merlie.
Also Merl(e) has been used on both boys and girls.
I like Merle and Merla for girls.
I even like Merlin for a girl - which is kind of exceptional for me. But I think it sounds similar to Marilyn and Marlene, and not much like a guy name. I've never met a guy Merlin, and I think it sounds sort of dorky as a guy name, like Mortimer or Percival. Merlin has been used for girls too (more often as Merlyn).
This just made me realize that Merle is unisex...that has to be one of the least attractive sounds for a girl :\Merlee is a little better, but still has masculine energy.
Probably does exist, as a nn for Merle.
