[Opinions] Rhiannon
WDYT of Rhiannon?

Replies

I love Rhiannon. I knew a girl with this name 24 years ago and she had flaming red hair. I see Rhiannon as a strong willed woman who won’t take nonsense from anyone. The Rhiannon I knew had a sister Angharad which is another Welsh name I love.
I like it, having known a Welsh Rhiannon. I tend to think that very speciiically minority ethnic names like that go better with a surname of the same heritage, unless the name's ethnicity is in the child's background. I especially dislike an obviously ethnic minority name paired with another ethnic minirity surname ... but that's just me!
It sounds a bit whiny to me, but I like its ersatz witchiness.
One of my husband's favourite songs! I like it, although for me it feels very 90s, because I knew a Rhiannon in school. She was slightly older than me and I thought she was super cool, so the name has good, nostalgic associations. It does feel very earthy, witchy - in a "white witch, love and light, hail the goddess" sort of way - and poetic, which I like.
Rhiannon has always struck me as an alluring, exquisite and mature name. I wish it made a comeback.
A powerful, bewitching name. It doesn’t necessarily remind me of someone who would have red hair but it gives me the same vibes as someone who dyes their hair red with henna. Hip, unapologetic, and ardent.
Nice "middle of the road" name. Slightly above "meh" but below "like". Acceptable on all people.
I love Rhiannon, very pretty
Rhiannon makes me think of the song by Fleetwood Mac, so it always has a "witchy" vibe to me. Sometimes I think it's elegant, and others... I trip over it in much the same way as I do Aurora.
Sorry, don't like it. Reminds me of Rihanna.
I've never liked it. I know it isn't a made-up name but it feels like it's one, one of the made-up names that's trying to do too much at once and not doing any of them very well.
I grew up playing sports with a Rhiannon, and now it reminds me of Rhiannon Giddens. I always liked it. I also liked Shannon and associate that, although it seems less dated and unisex than that.I wouldn't mind using it or being called it.

It's very Welsh. It's a pretty name, but with my accent it's a bit clumsy to say.
