For some of the NN choices that you commented on, I have reasons why I chose the ones I did.
For Alexander James, his last name is McKnight. I thought Xander McKnight flowed better that Alex McKnight.
For Charlotte Alexandra, she's kind of a tomboy. She's very athletic and when she showed a love of sports at an early age, her parents thought Lottie was too girly and Charlie fit her better.
For Susannah Elizabeth, I had two reasons why I chose "Annabeth." One was that I absolutely hate Susan and Susie. The other is that I think Annabeth is pretty.
