[Opinions] Jay
At the moment I really like the name Jay for a boy. Do you like it just as a full name or short for something.I can only think of Jaydon, Jason, Jamie and James that it could be short for and I don't care for any!Any combo suggestions? (Preferably from my favourite names list)

I like it, and I think it's fine as a full name. If you'd like to have a longer form, I think almost any "J" name would work. -- Sarah

Well, in theory I think Jay is fine as a name on its own.
However, I once knew a boy who was always referred to as (and I'll just use the phonetic pronunciation) "jaytee."
I went for years assuming it was J.T.
Finally I found out it actually was Jay T. (Don't know what the T. stood for.)
I found the experience quite disorienting. Unnerving. Whatever.
Now maybe that's just because I'm overly concerned with spelling, names, etc. Probably wouldn't bother most people!

I do like Jack, Jacob, Jared, Jarek, Jareth, Jarrett, Benjamin and Elijah. Though Jack is too popular, Jacob would go by Jake, Benjamin and Elijah are a bit of a stretch and Jarek doesn't sound too English!I do really like Jared, Jareth and Jarrett!

I know several Jays, and I still think it is better as short for something. The only person I liked it on was an Asian boy who was very religious, and whose parents had named him after the god. Otherwise, I prefer it to be short for something.

I think Jay works fine as a fn on its own and doesn't need to be short for anything.Jay Bradley or Jay Owen would be my combo choices from your names list.

I like both those, Jay Bradley is nice but I don't think I want 2 'y's at the end so Jay Owen would work!**miss_smiley**

I love Jay, both on its own and as a nickname. Anything beginning with the letter J is fair game, in this case--it's like Kiki and Gigi for a girl in that sense.I have a character whose name is Jehoshaphat "Jay." He has siblings Hephzibah "Zibby," Kerenhappuch "Keri," and Theophilus "Tep." :D That might be a bit extreme for you, though.Array

...And then he said, "You're independent, aren't you?"
"Yes," said Laura.A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

Why do they all have very weird Hebrew names except for Theophilus? He stands out.

He does, doesn't he? :) They were all given Biblical names, and Tep's simply doesn't sound quite so Biblical as the others'.They're from a rather silly story, so the fact that he stands out isn't much of a problem, hehe.Array
