I love it as a nickname- for whatever it can be used. Arthur nn Art is fine. But I really love Artemis nn Art, on a boy. (Artemis has been permanently boyinised for me because of Artemis Fowl. And I love it, too. Think of it as the opposite of those people who use masculine names for girls- it's Josie and Artemis for boys, all the way.) And if you don't like that, Artemisios or something...
