My best friend's grandfather was Amos Ross and she's always wanted to name a son this (fn and mn), but I think she's not as fond of it anymore, which is a shame. :(
I'd be a little concerned, at least where I live, with the Famous Amos connection and teasing (see my post below Cambria's to see what I mean). :-/ I otherwise think it's a great name, though.

I like it and would use it as a mn.

I like it!
It's my grandfather's name (prn. AH-mos not AY-mus). I like it.

I like it. :-) It's a good, strong name.
I didn't think much of this name until I met my ex-boyfriend and found out that his older brother's name is Amos. I honestly hadn't ever thought about the name much before that, but since then, it's grown on me. I really like it. It's very strong-sounding and masculine. I don't really think the cookies make a difference. My ex said they called his brother Famous Amos sometimes. How is that really bad? Haha. I plan on using Amos someday. I just need to find a good mn. =)

I love it, but it just seems like it would be too.. I don't know, grown-up sounding to use for a child. (I know, I know, they're going to be adults for most of their lives..)

Personally, I love it. I just hope it isn't going to see the same popularity as Jacob, Caleb, Noah & Elijah!

I really doubt it! Other than the cookies from grade school, I've never seen a person with that name.
Cookies?
Oh! Famous Amos! Gotcha...took me a minute, lol. :o) I have a friend named Amy that we all call Amos, so I'm *almost* to the point where I consider Amos to be feminine...:oS

We have restaurants in the South (maybe elsewhere?) called Famous Amos. I assume they are the same people that do the cookies, lol. But locally, these restaurants are often called "Flamin' Anus". :-/ Lovely.

Personally, I like it. I never hear it, plus it's a very masculine, Biblical name. The biggest problem is that it reminds me of Famous Amos Cookies.
