I can't choose! It's funny b/c my first name is Ashley (although I recently starting going by Nikki b/c my mn is Nicole, plus Ashley is waaaay too popular w/in my age group, I'm 18) and my sister's 1st name is Emily. So it's really hard for me to decide!

I chose Ashley, but I love the name Emily too.

I chose Ashley. Although I don't love it, I prefer it over Emily. Emily is pretty-it just bores me to tears because I hear it everywhere.

Oops. I'm the odd one out, I chose Ashley. Please don't kill me. A while ago I would have picked Emily, because all I associated it with was a smart protagonist in a children's book I read (can't remember what book now). Besides, I like M's to the point you could say I have a sickness.I'm not really sure why I picked Ashley; I like it about the same as Emily and it has the same popularity "problem." And I don't like the -shl- sound at all.I guess I'd just rather be named Ashley myself, if I was forced to choose. It's more modest and more powerful sounding to me. Emily sounds bossy and insecure compared to Ashley. Emily gets called Emmy, too, which I can't stand; while you could call Ashley Ash. - chazda

Emily. I don't really like Ashley on a girl. Emily isn't too common (in England, although I know it is in the States), and it sounds so girly and pretty.

You know Emily has taken over Chloe as the most popular name, right?

Yeah, but then I don't know many young Chloes either. The baby girls I know seem to be mostly called Ellie.

Mission accomplished. :-)
