What do you think? Is that just too outlandish as a fn? What about with the nn Addy? Also, what do you think of the combo Boadicea Ocean?

Boadicea is nmsaa. It seems like there would be quite a few pronunciation and spelling issues with this name.

Great association and namesake, but I find it ugly personally. I love Addie though

Now there's a namesake I'd like to have! :D

She was a rebel, a strong female warrior, fought for the freedom of her people, and preferred dying to submitting to Roman authority... very honourable, IMO--what more could one want in a namesake?

Boadicea is an very uncommon name, to boot. I also think it looks/sounds quite pretty.

I don't understand the nn Addy, though. It just doesn't feel natural, coming from Boadicea. I'd probably go with Bo, or Bea (prn. BEE), or even CeCe.

Also...

Oops, I forgot to respond about the mn. I don't like Boadicea Ocean, mainly because of the similarity of the "o" sounds and the repeated "cea".

My mn suggestions:
Boadicea Maris (means "of the sea")
Boadicea Wren
Boadicea Lenore
Boadicea Garnet
Boadicea Delphine
Boadicea Violet
Boadicea May
Boadicea Fleur
Boadicea Ingrid

CeCe doesn't make sense to me...its meant to be pronounced Bo-ah-da-shay-ah according to my Papa who is a history professor

I've only ever heard it pronounced Boo-di-cuh. I watched a show about her on the History channel and that is how they said it.

Hmm

I've heard a few pronunciations, actually. Lots of spellings, too.

I like bo-dah-SEE-ah best... that's the way I've heard a few Brits pronounce it. *shrug*

If that's wrong, though, or wrong for the area/spelling, then I suppose CeCe wouldn't make sense. But I prefer Bea or Bo, anyway. :]

THe whole Boadicea story is just so inspiring but sad, that the name is tainted with sorrow for me. However, I did know people who named their dog that, and it's nick name was Boda (Boh - dah), which i actually think is a nice name.

how are you pron. Boadicea? the only way I've heard it is "Boo-dih-ka" so I'm not sure how Addie would tie in.

I think the biggest problem you'd get with it is people not knowing how to pronounce the name. however, in the end it all boils down to what you want.

I just find it severely unattractive. It's long and unwieldy and offers no particular association for me. I'd save it for the middle name spot, personally. Kestrel Boadicea, Caoilfhionn Boadicea, Rain Boadicea, Clara Boadicea, etc--I think combos like those would work more nicely.

I do like Addie--as in Addie Pray of Paper Moon--but it doesn't save Boadicea for me.
