Definitely Rosalie. Rosalie Violet is gorgeous (though a bit on the "flowery" side :b). Elaina just has way too many possible spellings, imo. GL!

I'd go with Rosalie Violet for sure. It's just gorgeous. Rosalie sounds much prettier than Elaina. I know someone who is named Rosalie, but always gets called Rosie or Rose. It doesn't really matter. Personally I would call her Rosie, if I was always going to call her that. I think Rosie can be a full name, doesn't bother me.

Of the two, I like Rosalie Violet best. Rose may be a common mn, but as a fn, it's not that common in my experience. As for calling her Rosie, I see no problem with that. I consider a formal name and a nn a sort of twofer which offers more options. She may decide one day that she prefers to be called Rosalie, Rosie or even Rose. Options are good! I don't think it's difficult to say at all and like it best with Cecilia.

Re: Elaina, I'm Elena pronounced the same way so obviously, I'm partial to my spelling. The vast majority of people I've come into contact with get the pronunciation correct the first time, however, there are those who say ee-LAY-na (beginning with the long 'e' sound) which I'm not crazy about. Still, I'll answer to anything. ;-) I haven't looked into the popularity of the other similar names but I have checked up on Elena. Its popularity is pretty consistent. In the last 15 years, it "peaked" at #212 in 1999. Last year, it ranked #217. Everyone has their own standard of what's too popular and Elena doesn't seem overly popular to me. I don't foresee it racing up the charts any time soon (hope not). You seem to like Violet. Actually, I can see that one becoming very popular in the next 5 years or so. It's good that you want to keep it in the middle.

Both names are nice, but I prefer Elaina Violet. Very pretty, and fits well with Cicelia, IMO.

I would go with Elena (spelled that way) Violet. Elaina reminda me too much of Elaine, which I don't like.

I like the idea of giving a child a formal name and then calling the child a nick name. I was named Jennifer but my family called me Jenny. When I started school I told my teachers that I wanted to be called Jennifer. My teachers and fellow students called me Jennifer until I got to college when people started calling me Jen. I love the fact that my name was able to change with me as I grew up.

Rosalie is a beautiful name that can also grow up with your daughter. Rosie is a perfect nick name for a little girl. I know two adults named Rosalie and the name fits them perfectly.

I really like both names, honestly. I prefer the spelling Alaina, though it is rather trendy. My vote would probably go for Rosalie Violet. It's lovely, and I think you could get away with calling her both Rosalie and Rosie. Good luck :)

Elaina and it's various spellings are not as uncommon as the Rose names are. I also love your other daughters name! One of my favorite combos is Celia Rosalie which kind of combines both of their names.

I love Rosalie Violet! Very pretty. Rose- names have always been popular, so I wouldn't worry about that. Also, who cares if YOU call her Rosalie (and you're her parent's, I'm sure you would, even if it's only when you're mad lol) or not, she may want to. But mostly, like I said, I'm sure you would, and even if not, who cares? It's very pretty, much better than Elaina, which is pretty, but not as much. :) Congrats and good luck.
