Despite the obvious Mariah Carey association, I think it's a lovely name.
In Jane Austen's time, Maria was pronounced ma-RIE-uh, the same as Mariah, so it has an old-fashioned sound to me.
I don't know if I'd use it because of its celebrity associations, but it's still nice.
