The connection isn't too strong. I wouldn't use the name myself because it reminds me of Evander Holyfield, but if I met someone else by the same name, I would be able to associate it with that person instead (if that makes any sense). It wouldn't be terrible if the last name also happened to start with an 'H'.

This name could work. I do think of Evander Holyfield somewhat, but it's still a usable name.
