[Opinions] Scout and Thaddeus
What are your thoughts on these?I haven't made up my mind as to whether I like them, Scout (g) is growing on me but Thaddeus is just OK. I can't see myself naming a little boy Thaddeus to be honest. Do you like any nns for it?As for liking Scout, could it be a nn for anything?
Any combo suggestions?Thank you**miss_smiley**

Scout is a huge gp for me on a girl... I think of To Kill a Mockingbird, so I have a good association. It is the kind of name that could end up becoming a nn for a totally unrelated first name. As for Thaddeus, I don't really know any nns... Thaddy? Its nrms, too formal, stuffy sounding. I do like it with Scout though.

I think Scout is one of those nns a girl could just earn (like, imo, Ace & Jett for a boy) & it wouldn't have to relate to her real name. It's a cute for a young girl or even a teenager, but I can't see it working well for a woman. That's another reason I like it just as a random nn for any combo you want.I really like Thaddeus. I don't care for any of the nns, but Tad is all right.

I knew an overweight child named Thaddeus and he was made fun of terribly. They called him Fatty-us.

Scout sounds like an endearing nick name. You could use it no matter what the child's official name is.I think of the nick name Tad when I hear the name Thaddeus.I don't think that nick names always have to be closely related to the given name. My grandfather's name was Duane Martin but as a child everyone called him Zeek. Later people called him Mart and as an adult he was called Van.

>>As for liking Scout, could it be a nn for anything?>>Scout can be a nickname for anything at all. Scout Finch's name is Jean Louise which I think is lovely, but if you don't like it then pick something else, and use Scout as a nickname. An example: my friend and her husband wanted to call their son Bo, but they did not want to name him Bo nor did they like any of the names for which Bo is traditionally a nickname. They named their son James Foster Lastname; he has never been called anything but Bo.
:-)I love the name Thaddeus. I've known only one; he is a 60-ish man who is always called Thad. DH :-)

That is a good idea! I guess it's like the nn Tiny, which I posted about ages ago, but Scout doesn't really have to kept within the family like Tiny would. Thanks**miss_smiley**

Scout makes me think of To Kill A Mocking Bird, which I love, but would prefer Louise (I believe her name was) with the nn Scout. Otherwise I think of a past contestant on Survivor and from what I saw (I dont watch the show, my mother loves it) she was a real witch.Thaddeus is okay. Could be better, but it could be worse too. My friend dated a Paul Thaddeus so I think of him when I hear this.~~Kris~~
