I love both Mamie and Maisie, although I like Maisie better. I agree with iris that they are so far removed from Mary and Margaret that they can stand alone.
Even though both are longer than May, I think each of them could be used as a nn for May. Well, maybe I'm stretching, just because I love the name May so much.
