Message: "Ruuzel" - Behind the Name

Ok, putting this right upfront: it's the name of a creature in World of Warcraft. I like it.

I googled it pretty extensively, because many of the names used for creatures in the game are at least based on other fantasy stories or legendary characters, but all I could find was a possibility that it means "pot" in Flemish. (please tell me if you know a meaning for it)

So, possible meanings and source aside ...

What would be your reaction to meeting a female person named Ruuzel in real life? Pronounced ROO-z'l.

I would think that the name sounds very exotic and interesting.

For some reason the first thought when I read it was Rapunzel : )

It kind of looks and sounds Estonian, like their form of Rachel, or maybe Rose. I think it sounds interesting, and unique in a good way. Its pronunciation is also similar to that of the Yiddish name Rayzl, which has a number of different spellings.

Since I'm not involved with WoW, if I met a Ruuzel I would assume it was a family name, likely a surname. I have to admit the more I say it the more it sounds like a children's cartoon character. In the 80s there was stuffed animals that were two animals combined into one. Sounds like one of those. Roozle: a rooster and a poodle.

My first reaction would be that I think it's misspelled, according to Dutch (and Flemish for that matter) rules it would be Ruzel (RUY-zul). because you said it's Flemish I decide to google it too, and this lead me to believe it's a Limbourgish (sp?) word, bit it's very much dialect and hardly used, I don't think too many people will know about it. I would defiantely never use it as a real name. Ruzel, is better, Ruuzel just looks very spelled.

I'd probably think it was quite cute. I'd hypothesise that it was a form of Rose (my step-great-grandmother was Rosa "Rosel" so I'd probably wonder if it was a nickname for Ruza!).

It reminds me of Roo (from Winnie The Pooh) and Rapunzel at the same time. It's... odd. I'm not really a fan.

Well, at first I'd think it was some sort of ethnic name, possibly Russian. Or, I might think it was a nickname for something (not sure what, haha.) It's not going to be on my top 10 list anytime soon, but it's not as bad as it could be. Reminds me of Rapunzel or something? Not sure. I have mixed reactions. Also, a teacher I despised in middle school had a last name spelled differently but pronounced the same way, which might put me off it.

Concisely: Not my style, but not terrible.
