[Opinions] Persephone
I absolutely adore this name and have a deep connection with the story but is it too strange a name for a child? I think its beautiful. Thoughts?Persephone Rose

I love the story about when she comes to earth the seasons change. I think it sounds beautiful as well, when you pronounce it correctly. I was just watching a Law & Order episode the other night where they pronounced it "persa-fone".

I love it, but I wouldn't use it personally. I like hearing others use it though. ¡VIVA ESPAÑA!

I like the sound of Persephone and the way it's written, however, I dislike its meaning and the fact that people seem to want to say "purse-a-phone." I've seen it before, sigh.I feel about Andromeda the way you do about Persephone.

I adore the name! And one NN for it could be Peony.

I love it. Personally I wouldn't use it because it has no good nicknames. I prefer Penelope, but I would be delighted to meet a little Persephone.

I think this name has a good chance of having a major upswing in use. Not only has Persephone been mentioned a lot lately on all three of the baby name boards I look at, but it has recently been featured on the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as the "undercover" name of the character detective Olivia Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay). When a "new" name starts turning up in use by well-loved chief characters on hit TV shows, that's often a sign that the leaders of fashion are noticing it and that it will boom in use soon.

Persephone Wren
Persephone Meadow
Persephone Fleur
Persephone Linnet
Persephone Truth
Persephone Nyx

I don't think its too strange for a child, although I would expect some problems if you live in the US: Teaching pronouncing the "phone" like in telephone and kids calling her "phony" as a nn. What about using it as a mn? I personally think that Rose Persephone sounds quite nice.

I don't think that it is too strange at all (the sound is familiar enough, think Stephanie), but it probably would have to be shortened for everyday use, and I can't think of any nicknames I really like except maybe Persis?

I don't like it. People would always be misspelling and mispronuncing it. But if you really like it, go ahead and use it. A simple middle name like Rose goes well with Persephone.

I like the sound of Persephone, but I wouldn't use it on a child. It's not terrible though.
