Yes, I definitely would name my son August. It's one of my favorite boys' names at the moment. I like it as a fn, esp. with the nn Gus, and also as a mn (and I also love Augusta for a girl). I don't think it would necessarily get negative reactions. It's different, but it's a well-known word, at least, and not a terribly odd one. :b If I do ever use it, it would be a nice way to honor my parents, whose birthdays are both in the month of August. :)
