[Games] Re: You say, you think
in reply to a message by AET
This is my son, Jett Steven Archer [last name]. "Jett"
You say: Hello, Jett.
You think: I wish they'd left off "Jett" and called him Steven Archer (a very nice combo). Jett would be a nice nn for something, but it just doesn't sound like a real name to me. Maybe they could have gotten away with Jeffrey Steven Archer nn Jett...Maybe a little bit of a stretch, but I like it.This is my daughter, Claudia Victoria Beth [last name]. "Claudia"
You say: Hello, Claudia.
You think: I think there's a little too much "ia" sound there. Claudia and Victoria don't rhyme exactly, but still...Victoria Beth is nice, though, and Claudia isn't bad when not with Victoria. This is my daugheter, Margot Victoria Evangeline [last name]. We call her Maggie.
You say: Hi, Maggie.
You think: Wow, what a mouthful--a nicely flowing mouthful, though...I probably would have gone with just Margot Evangeline, but it's nice. I just feel like I'm starting to run out of breath before the last name. And why use something as plain as Maggie for Margot? These are my twins, Jasper Garrett Ash and Kyra Seraphina Ruby [last name]. "Kyra and Jasper"
You say: Hello. It's nice to meet you both.
You think: Both very nice names--Kyra is not one I'd use, but it's quite prettyThis is my daugther, Sasha Cordelia [last name]. We sometimes call her "Sassie".
You say: Hello, Sasha.
You think: I don't mind some sillyness or childishness in nicknames, but Sassie? I thought Sasha was a nickname anyway. The combo isn't great: Sasha I think of as a nickname, and Cordelia is more grand and princessy. Why not Aleksandra Cordelia nn Sasha and lose "Sassie" completely.
