It's a variation of Durcan, Durkin ...found mainly in counties Mayo-Sligo in Ireland. In Irish, it would be Ó Duarcáin from duarcán, a gloomy person. The family was a branch of the O’Haras in Sligo. The Irish form Mac Dhuarcáin produces MacGurgan in county Armagh, etc.
