Message: "Ellis" - Behind the Name

Do yo prefer Ellis on a girl or a boy? I know that basically it's a boy's name but Grey's anatomy got me thinking about this name on a girl.
What are mn you'd use with Ellis?
Oh and one last question, is it just me or they like using male names on women in this show? (Addison , Ellis...)

I like it for both, and would use it on either. I really like the name.
I personally haven't noticed the usage of male names for females on TV.

I only like Ellis on a girl, because it sounds identical to Alice in a posh Edinburgh accent, and I don't live very far from Edinburgh ;-)

As with the majority of "boy turned girl" names that I like, I prefer Ellis as a boy's name.

I don't watch the show either and I would only use Ellis on a guy.

Ellis is a boy's name, far as I'm concerned. If you want something like it on a girl, Alice is already an amazingly good choice--leagues ahead of Ellis-on-a-girl.

I don't like or watch Grey's Anatomy, so I couldn't tell you what I think about their naming habits on the whole.
