In the 1880 census a female ancestor appears as Himois PRATT. Pratt would have been her married name...husband was John PRATT. Children all have names I am more used to seeing like Margaret and Elizabeth. All born in Ireland. Family tradition holds that John Pratt's wife was Anna MACDONALD. Is anyone familiar with the name Himois or can anyone think, if it was a bad transcription, what the original name might have been or how it might be pronounced? Could Himois sound like Anna somehow?
