[Opinions] Madonna
Does anyone think this is a not a pretty and very cool name? 'madonna' may be famous, but the virgin was famous first...
Is it usable?

I had a friend in high school who was named Madonna but always went by Donna. We graduated in 1988 so we were born well before Madonna appeared on the scene.
I don't know if I'd use it today because of it's close association with the entertainer. I think Donna is acceptable.

Unfortunately, the name will be associated with the notorious singer for a long time. Additionally, some people may consider the name to be sacrilegious (although religious families have used the name Madonna).

I know a woman named Madonna(not the actress)-standard Canadian citizen.

Well, I would always associate it with the singer. I think everyone else would too. That's why I wouldn't use it.

I don't find it usable. Because of 'M', I find it tacky.Leslie, lucky mommy to Scott (2000), Delaney (2002), and Larissa (2005)

Yes, any name is usable, celebs don't have rights to any names they may use on thier children, or on themselves, but I don't think Madonna is that pretty.

Its cool, but maybe better for a middle name. Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton was the one who asked why. -Baruch

Actually i LOVE the name Cher, lol, from the french Chere "darling"
But Madonna is one of the names i'm considering, and i noticed you posted one on Cleopatra too. I think you've been picking names off my list! I don't mind.

No, I don't think it's usable. To me, it either sounds like an extremely tacky reference or a tad blasphemous--I'd rather leave that title to Mary and the other Madonna.Array
