I heard the name Whittier on a girl today, what do you think? I don't think I really like it it seems to sir namey.

I agree. It's the name of a cheerleader in the movie "Bring It On Again".
It's quite a nice surname, but I don't think it works as a first name, regardless of gender.
Blech. Poor girl. It's way, way too surnamy, not to mention it sounds like 'wittier'. People are probably going to ask her often, "What's your real first name?"

I don't care for it on a boy and esp. not a girl. Makes me think of witty (I'm wittier than you are) or whittling (sp?).
Way to surnamey seeing as i know someone with the lsat name of Witten...its too close
Dislike it a lot. Poor kid. Hopefully, the name has some special significance to the family.
It's much more like a surname, plus I live near a street called Whittier.
