It sounds a little too old fashioned. Ilove flower names like Rose, Violet, and lilly, but not Petunia. Top 20 girls namesEmma, Emily, Anna, Elizabeth, Erica, Charlotte, Catherine, Hailey, Chelsea, Jennifer, Jessica, Jocelyn, Autumn, Amber, Hannah, Sarah, Natalie, Lauren, Katie.

Hey All! I posted this name because I was really curious as to what people's reactions were to it...and thought maybe it had a chance of making a comeback like some names such as Elsie and Mabel do. I think it's unanimous tho...nobody likes it. I personally like it on a dog...I think it's cute. If it weren't for Petunia Pig it might be usable!LOL

I hate it. Sorry. It reminds me of that mean woman in the Harry Potter books Petunia Dursley. It just sounds awful too.

I've never known anyone named Petunia and hope not to find anyone with the name. I personally hate it and the only thing that comes to mind are planting petunias in the spring and summer or a certain cartoon pig.

If I look past Petunia Pig and Petunia Dursley I quite like it. I think it is a sweet name.

I have never known anyone named this, but it is too cutesy and has too many bad associations for me.

It's cute, and a GP name of mine, though not something I'd ever use. One reason I'd not use it is that it's associated with Petunia the Pig, a Looney Tunes character. :b

Thanks for your input. I actually posted to see if anyone liked the name...I don't really particularly like or dislike it. I used to have a bulldog named Petunia and another named Penelope...Penelope is now becoming popular, so I wondered if Petunia would too!

I would *never8 use Petunia as a name, not even for an animal!I've never known of anybody human named this either.First of all, I don't like the petunia flower. It doesn't smell good and it makes my nose swell and itch if I get too near it.Also, there's Petunia Pig, Porky's girlfriend or whatever she was. And Harry Potter's nasty aunt Petunia Dursley. Just a bunch of bad associations.
