[Opinions] Welsh names...alternative to Carys
Which of these do you like and would you use any of them? DH and I love Carys, but seeing as it is becoming trendy, probably won't go for that.
Alys- not trendy like Alyssa :) I like this
Anwen
Catrin
Gwyneth
Mairwen
Nerys

Ethelwyn isn't Welsh
It's Anglo-Saxon, composed of the elements æðel "noble" and wine "friend". As Ethelwin, it was born by a Bishop of Durham (1056-1071).
And the -wyn ending is technically strictly male in Welsh. -wen is feminine.

EDIT: Specified that -wyn/-wen is Welsh.

I love Nerys!
I love Welsh names, there so pretty, but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to use one, maybe. Anyway I like Alys, Anwen, Gwyneth, and Mairwen best.
I don't think Carys is going to pan out as that super trendy name, its just hyped up a bit right now because of Catherine Zeta-Jones & so, I wouldn't rule it out. However, I have to say your list is quite lovely but I prefer Gwenyth over Gwyneth for some reason, even though I love Ms. Paltrow! ... But having said that I'd go with the y before the e, because people will think you screwed up on her name (if they notice the difference at all).
