Leotha would be more likely to be female, Luciente male.
I think I've probably seen Leotha as a name before. I KNOW I've seen several examples of "Leota" as a feminine name in the Southern USA. Leotha just seems like a variation of Leota to me.

That's interesting you should say that.
I've never known Leotha as anything but a male name; I associate it with Leotha Stanley, who's not really well-known outside my general area, but who is an amazingly talented man: http://www.news.wisc.edu/12096.html
I remember he came to my elementary school at least once, and he was just a great guy.
Luciente, on the other hand, I discovered in Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy. Luciente's one of the primary characters, whose gender is obfuscated for the beginning of the book. (She's later revealed to be female, but the reader and the protagonist are both led to believe she's a young man.)
I was, however, expecting responses opposite my experiences with the names. So it all works out. I was mostly hoping to see about Leotha, which I find very handsome (but probably not workable, alas).
