[Opinions] Re: Mylie

I agree. I have a feeling that the name is becoming popular due to the actress as well, but I also noticed that Maile was appearing regularly on birth announcements after Wayne Brady and his wife used Maile for their daughter some years ago. People try to pass off Maile as a legitimate Hawaiian name, but what gets me is that Maile wouldn't even be pronounced like Miley in Hawaiian. And was Maile even used as a traditional first name by Hawaiians? It seems like it's just a Hawaiian word that people have recently started using as a first name (kind of like Cerise, which is not a traditional name in France by any means).
Another thing that bothers me is that Miley Cyrus's name isn't even Miley. Her dad used to call her Smiley, which lead to Miley. Miley/Mylie, etc. reminds me of Nevaeh in that regard although Miley sounds like it could be a surname. I still don't care for it though. It's about as trendy as you can get.
