[Opinions] Chet?
Ur opinions on the name Chet for a boy pls. The "Ch" part is pronounced like in Charles. Is the name too unusual & effeminate?

Thank you to those of you who commented on the name Chet. It has given me some insights into how it is perceived & how it will be received by my son one day. I have decided to stick with the name. I personally think it's cute & kind of funky. But most of all the name has a very special meaning to me that overrides any negative comments I received. It is the name of a friend that I really admire & who has been a wonderful role model & inspiration to me. He carries the name so well & I just fell in love with it. So I have decided to name my son Chet Liam one day. Liam is after another inspirational figure in my life. Thanks again for your honest, sometimes touching & sometimes humorous responses.
Don't like it.
Not too unusual, not at all effeminate! It's cool, it's jazzy, it's manly (and my husband wouldn't agree to it! *pout*)
It sounds too nickname-y as a formal name, imo, but I don't really care for Chester at all. :-/
I really like it!
I've never come across Chet. It's unusual but I think you could use it.
Chet Baker
I think of him right away. Great jazz musician, not a great namesake. See here:

I assume that "Ur opinions on the name Chet for a boy pls" translates as "What are you opinions on the name Chet for a boy, please?"
I dislike it. It sounds like a soap opera / teenage night-time drama from the late 80s type name, like the star high school quarterback who is dating the head cheerleader at Sweet Valley or something. Blech, sorry.

No, it doesn't seem at all effeminate. I think it's quite masculine. A little unusual, but not so much that it sounds strange.
It immediately brings to mind Chet Atkins.
