WDYT of Dixon? :) I recently saw a film in my "film noir" class w/ a character named Dixon and well, I like the sound of it.

If spelled Dickson, the teasing would be ceaseless. If not, people probably would still hook onto the first syllable. Plus, I dislike names with obvious surname-only formations (-son, Mac-, -ton etc.)

I actually like it a lot. There is a potential for teasing with the "dick" sound, so I wouldn't use it personally, but it'd be nice for a character.

As dick is such a prevalent term I'd personally avoid any name that's too dick sounding. In theory Dixon does have a nice sound. I think it'd be interesting if Dixon became popular. It'd combat all the little Masons out there lol.

I don't like it. In theory I guess it's okay...or in a film. But not on a real baby.

If the individual is the son of a Richard then sure, otherwise nope. Plus the potential for teasing is there.

Worrying about teasing is just extremely silly.

I'm not sure whether it refers to "Son of Dick/Richard."

It isnt a silly concern. Being male I know what guys are like, especially in my case with the last name Hunt.

Dixon is the son of Dick/Richard much like Nixon is the son of Nicolas.

Ditto it isn't silly. I can see Dixon being reversed to make "son of a dick". Kids are cruel.
