I'm the same way...I think Lucy is so sweet and feminine, but Lucille is dnmsaa. It seems very dated imo. I'd definitely use Lucy all on its own. I'm not as fond of any other similar names--Lucia, Luciana, Lucinda, etc. as I am of Lucy.
