[Opinions] Devon
What do you think of the name Devon? This is another "truly unisex" name that is on my favorites list, and I like it for both genders. (As with some of the other actual unisex names that I like either way I am a bit more hesitant about using it for a girl though because I don't want to contribute to the plight of boy's names going to the girls, even though Devon is actually unisex.)

It sounds odd to me, because in some parts of Australia devon is our name for baloney, the sandwich meat. If you give a kid this name make sure he/she doesn't want to visit Australia!

I don't like it for either gender, though I don't find it horrible. I have a friend, in her mid 20s, named Devon Paige. She said she hated her name growing up because she was teased for it being a "boy name" and her mn being somewhat ambiguous didn't help either, she said. It seems most of the Devons/Devins in our area are boys, and we've had a few babies at work with this name (I work in an NICU), and Devon the female nurse is still on the search for a girl Devon. She rolls her eyes when she finds a male Devon/Devin. :b

It's not an absolute favourite but I like Devon. However, I much prefer it spelt Devin and like it best on a boy.

I really like Devon for both genders as well. I'm more inclined towards using it on a boy, though I think it's adorable on a girl as well. Preferably with the spelling Devon though, it tends to annoy me to see Devyn.

I love Devon, but on a girl only [M]However I've only heard the name once, and it was a little boy at McDonalds.

I like it spelled Devin (for both genders), although I think I prefer it for a boy. However, the only Devin I know is a girl, about 22 years old and has a twin sister Dana.

I'd keep it for boys.

I really like this name on a girl and I like it on a boy. This is one I view as truly unisex too, I know 2 girls and 2 boys with this name.

I don't particularly care for it. =\ Sorry.

I really like it, for a girl or boy. I would probably use it on a girl. I know a girl named Devon and most people think her name is pronounced "Dev-On" - like the word On, rather than Dev-In, like the word In. I sort of like Devyn.

I would use this name for a boy. Only because I know a bunch of Devons and they are all boys and I don't know any girl Devons even though I know this can be used as a unisex name. IMO its more for a boy. But its not horrible on girl either :)
